Installation Instructions:
These instructions assume that the speaker is disconnected.
-This task is recommended for the experienced installer only!
-Be sure to keep track of all the hardware and its proper location!
-If a power screw driver is used to install screws, be sure to properly adjust the clutch torque to avoid stripping the screw holes!
- Remove all of the screws from the MF horn and remove it and the MF driver from the cabinet. Disconnect the wires from the midrange driver terminals by pushing in on terminals.
- Remove the MF driver by holding the horn and unscrewing the MF driver. Set the old driver to the side, the MF horn and horn gasket will be reused when the new MF driver is screwed onto the horn. Be careful not to over tighten and strip out the horn threads!
- Remove all four screws from the HF horn and remove the horn and driver from the cabinet. Disconnect the wires from the HF driver terminals. If the wires have been soldered in place, unsolder them from the terminals or cut the wires.
- Remove all of the screws from the drone located on rear of cabinet. Remove the drone to access the crossover network and the woofer.
- Unplug the network leads going to the woofer. If the leads are soldered in place, unsolder them from the terminals or cut the wires.
- With the Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws from the old crossover network. Remove the old network out of the bottom of cabinet, it will not be used.
- Place the new network in place and reuse the screws and screw holes to secure network. The screws are self-tapping if new holes are needed.
- Locate the pair of output tweeter wires on the new network. These wires are marked Green (+) and Black (-) and have female push on connectors. Thread them through the tweeter horn hole In the cabinet front panel and carefully connect the push on terminals to the tweeter. The tweeter positive terminal will be marked with a (+) symbol, a dot of paint or a colored sticker.
- Install the new tweeter/horn driver assembly in the cabinet and secure it with the same screws removed from disassembly. Snug firmly but do not over-tighten. Hand tightening is recommended for these screws.
- Locate the pair of output MF wires on the new network. These wires are marked Yellow (+) and Black (-) and have female push on connectors. Thread them through the MF horn hole in the cabinet front panel and carefully connect the push on terminals to the MF driver. The mid driver positive terminal will be marked with a (+) symbol, a dot of paint or a colored sticker.
- Install the new MF/horn driver assembly in the cabinet and secure it with the same screws removed from disassembly. Snug firmly but do not over-tighten. Hand tightening is recommended for these screws.
- Locate the pair of output LF wires on the new network. These wires are marked Red (+) and Black (-) and have female push on connectors. Carefully connect the push on terminals to the woofer. The woofer positive terminal will be marked with a (+) symbol, a dot of paint or a colored sticker.
- Locate the shorter network input wires. The HF/MF input wires are marked with Green (+) and Black (-) push on terminals, and plug into the top terminals on the input cup. The LF input wires are marked Red (+) and Black (-) push on terminals, and plug into the bottom terminals of the input cup. Be sure to observe polarity. Network (+) wires terminate to red input lugs on cup. Network (-) wires terminate to black input lugs on input cup.
(Note: Some input panels shipped with smaller .110” terminals on negative lugs, two .205” terminals (#1070336) are included with kit to change out using the 13mm and 4mm wrenches.)
- Re-Install the drone using screws from disassembly. Reposition your updated Forte III’s and enjoy!
