Cinema 1200 - Manual Surround Update
In some cases, we have seen the Cinema 1200 Surround 3A speakers pair successfully with the Cinema 1200, but not fully update with the rest of the system. This can cause a range of issues, so it is recommended to update your surrounds manually to avoid any potential problems in these cases.
USB Flash Drive Formatting Instructions
You will need to format the flash drive before your product can read from it. If you already know how to format a flash drive for FAT32, feel free to skip this step.

IMPORTANT: Use a flash drive that doesn’t store any important information. This process will wipe the contents of the drive.
Step 1 - Download and Extract the Update
- Follow this link to download the zip folder containing both Surround RX and Surround TX files.
- Unzip the folder (if needed), to view both Surround RX and Surround TX firmware files.
- NOTE: For Mac or iOS users, you may need to install a secondary program to unzip the folder.
Step 2 - Update Surround RX
- Delete all existing files from the flash drive.
- Make sure drive is formatted to FAT32.
- Preferably, use a USB 2.0 drive.
- Find the extracted folder from Step 1. Copy only the "sur_rx.bin" file to your formatted flash drive.

- Eject the flash drive from your machine - Macs require you to drag to the Trash, and in Windows you can right-click and select Eject.
- Unplug your soundbar from power.
- Ensure both surrounds are powered on and paired. Also, confirm only one speaker is set to Left and one is set to Right. You can check this by looking at the switch at the back of each speaker.
- NOTE: If there is more than one Left speaker or Right speaker, you will need to power cycle the speakers after making the change.

Power on the soundbar. If the bar was not already plugged in, plug the soundbar into AC power and wait 60 seconds for the system to fully come online.

Plug the thumb drive into your soundbar.

Hold the Power button on the soundbar until the word UPGRADE appears, then release the Power button. The bar should then display "SUR R" with an increasing number next to it. This will be proceeded by SUR L. When each surround speaker updates, you will see "SUR R OK" and then "SUR L OK".

Wait for the upgrade to complete - the status will be displayed on the soundbar. The device will return to INPUT + VOLUME, such as TV 30, when complete.

Always wait 60 seconds after this has appeared, just in case a second round of updates happens.

Remove the thumb drive.

Unplug the soundbar, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.

Wait 60 seconds for the soundbar to fully start.

Tap - don’t hold - the Pair button under the right-hand panel of the device to scroll through the versions of installed software to confirm the update has completed.
- NOTE: At this point, SUR R and SUR L should both be 82. SUR T will still display 80 or lower.
Step 3 - Update Surround TX

Delete all existing files from the flash drive. You can use the same drive as "Step 2".
- Make sure drive is formatted to FAT32
- Preferably, use a USB 2.0 drive.
- Go to your recent downloads and find the extracted folder from "Step 2".
- Copy only the "sur_tx.bin" file to your formatted flash drive.
- NOTE: As with Surround RX, it should be the ONLY file on the drive, and should not be in a folder.

Step 4 - Verify Firmware Has Installed Successfully
Tap - don’t hold - the Pair button under the right-hand panel of the device to scroll through the versions.
Keep pressing this button to scroll through all the firmware currently active on your device. It should display as follows:

NOTE: It is OK for firmware versions to be higher than those listed above.
