If I don’t have Airplay, can I play music using my G-17 Air?
The Klipsch G-17 Air has both a USB input and a 3.5mm input on its rear panel. Using the USB cable that came with a compatible iDevice, you can connect that iDevice with its 30-pin connector to the USB input and play music from, and charge, that device. When connected, push the input button on the side of the G-17 or on its remote to go to the USB input. If you start using Airplay while listening to something connected to the USB input, the G-17 will automatically change to the Airplay input.
Compatible iDevices that USB connect include all Airplay-compatible iDevices:
- iPhone 3G
- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4S
- iPod Touch ( 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations)
- iPad
- iPad 2
Compatible non-Airplay iDevices that will USB connect are:
- iPhone
- iPod nano ( 2nd, 3rd,4th,5th and 6th generations)
- iPod Classic (120GB and 160GB)
Using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable (not included with the G-17) you can connect any audio device with a 3.5 mm headphone output to the G-17’s 3.5mm input and play that device. Using a 3.5mm to dual RCA jack cable (not included with the G-17) you can connect any audio device with a Left/Right audio output to the G-17 input and play that device. When connected, push the input button on the side of the G-17 or on its remote to go to the 3.5mm input. If you start using Airplay while listening to something connected to the 3.5mm input, the G-17 will automatically change to the Airplay input. First turn volume on your iDevice all the way down, then turn the volume all of the way up on the G-17 Air. Now your idevice has full volume control.
