Klipsch R41 PM active speakers and connecting to devices
AnsweredHi,
I purchased a pair of Klipsch R41PM and I am very happy with the sound quality so far; I have a couple of newbie questions to do with active speakers - apologies if they will sound really basic.
When I connect my phone or computer to the speakers, via Bluetooth or cable, is the sound going to be amplified by the speakers, i.e. do I need to tell the speakers to utilise their built-in amplifier or is this going to happen automatically? I would just like to make sure I am using the Klipsch built-in amplifier other than my phone's one. And is it better to control the volume from the phone or from the speakers?
Similarly, I was given a ION turntable with built-in amplifier and speakers and would like to by-pass its amplifier in order to use the speakers' one.
Is this anything to do with the line/phono switch at the back of my speakers?
Many thanks in advance.

The built in "phono preamp" for the R-41PM will only work through the RCA connection. When connecting your phone through BT or AUX, it will always be a line level signal amplified by the "main amplifier" in the R-41PM. When connecting your turntable to the speakers via RCA, you can utilize the phono preamp. See if your turntable has a "Line/Phono" switch. If you would like to use the phono preamp built into the R-41PM, set the switch on the turntable AND your speakers to "Phono". If you want to utilize the built in amplifier in your turntable instead, set both switches to "Line".
